Home fitness equipment.

home-fitness-exercise-equipmentI am often asked what is the best piece of fitness equipment for the home.

I always have a little giggle when asked as I used own 2 shops selling home equipment Star Fitness in Bray and also in Arnotts. So my answer today might be a little different than a few years ago. However it does make me well qualified to answer the question.

DoneDeal and Ebay are crammed full of people trying to get rid of fitness equipment so think carefully before buying. Treadmills, bikes, Xtrainers are big and bulky and don’t always look good tucked behind a couch. They are also not too inviting in the garden shed when it’s dark and -5 degrees in winter.

Firstly choose a piece that you will enjoy using. So if you were a member of a gym what did you use most. Don’t buy something because your friend said it was great. Some companies will allow you to rent with a buying option. This is perfect as you can try it and hassle a good deal out of them if you want to buy. Make sure you get a warranty. If you get a rowing machine which is a great workout make sure you have the right technique.

Kettlebells, TRX, dumbbells etc are great tools but again ensure you know how to use them and have a good programme of exercises.

Male and female models make the simplest of fitness equipment look great on TV but I will bet you any amount of money they didn’t get their body using that piece.

Although its seems a great idea most equipment make great clothes hangers.

However I still bump into people who are still battering away regularly before work on something I sold those years ago. Or using it to supplement their workouts when they can’t get to Bootcamp.

Please shout if I can be of any help
