Maple Nut Oaties

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of gluten free rolled oats
  • ½ cup of organic cranberries or raisins
  • ½ cup of chopped nuts, seeds or ground almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of natural vanilla essence (omit if using vanilla protein powder)
  • 2 scoops of Sunwarrior protein powder (this is optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ½ cup of nut butter (almond or no sugar peanut butter)
  • ½ cup of 100% maple syrup

 

Method

Pre-heat oven to 160⁰C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper

Combine all dry ingredients and stir. Add the nut butter and maple syrup and mix well. Spoon mixture into balls with your hands or make a slab in the baking tray. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes and then bake for 15 minutes. Cool and cut into small flapjack style slices, no need to do anything if you shaped them into balls just allow to cool on a rack and store in the fridge.

  • Almond butter is a great source of calcium, magnesium and potassium
  • Dried cranberries are great for the integrity of your urine tract
  • Addition of Sunwarrior protein would make this an ideal post workout snack
  • Use sesame seeds if looking to increase your calcium intake
  • Cinnamon is excellent for helping keep your blood sugar balanced

 Can make into balls or bars... Really tasty!
